When undergoing a medical procedure most people won’t think twice about receiving a medical implant. It is told to us as Americans by the medical field that most implants such as hip or even birth control has undergone lots of previous testing to be approved for normal distribution. This is not the case.
A film released on Netflix called The Bleeding Edge highlights the medical field and the dangers of receiving medical devices. This pertains to hip implants and the Essure birth control injection that prevents pregnancy. It documents mostly on how these procedures are dangerous because of how medical devices are not properly tested before distribution to normal patients.
Most of the time companies will release a product new to the medical field without properly testing it by the FDA or regulating them before distribution. This is a way companies make money quicker and bypass the middle man. In fact more than 50% of medical devices released are recalled during the first year to malfunctions.
Under the FDA guidelines 90% of medical devices are released without any prior human testing and the affects it might have on your body.
Problems with the pregnancy device Essure has more than 50,000 lawsuits against it due to the side effects and complications it has caused in women.
- Pain in Abdomin
- Weight gain or loss
This story is not only to cover the problems with each and every medical device, but to inform you as a consumer that you should ask questions, be aware, and do research of what is being done to you in a hospital bed. Not all medical devices are going to help rather than hurt, but the medical field is corrupt and needs to be fixed. Companies shouldn’t cheat to make money, instead they should be interested in the good of the people and the health of every person.
