Back to my roots – 50 years ago, in 1969, I first walked into Villa Angela St. Joes at East 185th St and Lakeshore Blvd. as a young freshman. My years at the Viking Village instilled in me a real sense of work ethic and a duty to help others. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for that experience.
Last week I had the high honor of being the featured speaker at the VASJ general assembly to recognize the new inductees to the National Honor Society. Under the guidance of President Bill Cervenik, great things are happening: enrollment continues to rise, graduates going on to college is nearly 100% and last years graduates received $7 million dollars in college scholarships!
My wife Stephanie and I sponsor scholarships rewarding the “most “improved students in the school. I hope you enjoy my little talk.
