A 63-year-old woman took a commonly prescribed laxative prior to a colonoscopy. The substance had inordinately high levels of creatine that caused complete kidney failure. As a result, she needed a kidney transplant.

A 62-year-old gentleman, with a long history of diabetes, presented himself to an emergency room complaining of an infection in his foot. The wound was not managed properly resulting in the amputation of his left leg above the knee.
