Why You Should Get An Umbrella Coverage Insurance Policy (Getting Legal #115)

Share

In this episode of Getting Legal with Tim Misny, 19 Action News’s weatherman Jason Handman and I discuss umbrella coverage options offered by insurance companies. The conversation was ignited today by a question from Facebook fan Glen Kutner, “Is it smart to have an umbrella policy and does it cover everything?”

I explain to Jason why you should get an umbrella insurance policy, and address the question, “What does umbrella insurance cover?”

Watch the episode and learn about this valuable protective measure that insurance agents often hide from clients. I truly feel that as a Cleveland personal injury attorney, it is my job not only to help people after a tragedy has occurred, but also to inform them of what they can do to protect themselves in the future.

In this episode of “Getting Legal with Tim Misny,” Channel 19 weatherman Jason Handman and I look at the question, “If a loved one dies in an accident, who brings the case?”

Drawing on my knowledge as a Cleveland wrongful death lawyer to answer the question, I try to explain how an estate and an estate executor function, and the role that probate court plays in a wrongful death case. My goal is to share with my audience how to start this process so that the lawsuit can be brought and justice can be attained.

Channel 19 weatherman Jason Handman and I were back at the Diner on 55th and St. Claire in Cleveland this morning for Getting Legal, taking questions sent in by audience members and Facebook friends. Today we discussed my new scholarship program for the Cleveland area and beyond. I cover what the purpose of the scholarship is, who is eligible and how to apply.

As a Cleveland personal injury attorney, I am hoping to inspire a whole new generation of advocates for the injured victim with my reality show, “Misny Makes Them Pay” and this tuition assistance opportunity.

Q&A at Villa Angela-St. Joseph in Cleveland: Tim’s Scholarship Program (Getting Legal #111)

Share

As Tim wrapped up the last Getting Legal episode showcasing his visit at his alma mater, Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, he told the students at the Cleveland high school about his scholarship program for students with an interest in a career advocating for the injured victim.

“It is a noble and honorable thing to help somebody who, but for your help, has absolutely no chance at justice,” Tim told the students.

As a personal injury attorney in Cleveland, Ohio, Tim talks to students all the time who want to go into the law, but says that he never meets a student who wants to stand up for the downtrodden and disadvantaged.

Tim hopes that both his reality show, “Misny Makes Them Pay,” and the scholarship will encourage students to consider taking up the mantle of personal injury law.

Q&A at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School: Biggest Personal Injury Case (Getting Legal #110)

Share

For today’s Getting Legal with Tim Misny, I met with students at my alma mater, the private Cleveland high school, Villa Angela-St. Joseph. At the VASJ classroom, I held a question and answer session so students could ask about my life as a personal injury attorney.

Today, I got to answer the question, “What is the biggest case you have handled?”

I chose to respond by telling the students that while I have handled mass pharmaceutical tort cases before, the important part of a case isn’t the numbers, “it’s the fight.” Then I told the class a story about a single phone call I once made that now is one of my proudest moments as a lawyer.

Q&A at VASJ – Why Tim Became a Personal Injury Lawyer: Getting Legal 109

I sat down with the students of Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School this week on Getting Legal with Tim Misny, and they asked me what I would do if I wasn’t a Cleveland personal injury lawyer. The truth is, I’ve never thought about being anything else. As a little boy, my grandmother told me, “There will always be people that need your help,” and I’ve never forgotten. That is why I do what I do.

Tim Misny to Sponsor MADD Death Notification Training: Getting Legal 106

Share

This week on Getting Legal, I am talking once again with Julie Leggett, the executive director of the northeastern affiliate office of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). We have both been waiting eagerly for today to come, as it is the first session of the 2013 MADD Death Notification Training Seminar Series in Northeastern Ohio.

This series will allow officers from over 800 agencies, spanning four counties, to receive education on techniques for notifying individuals about the passing of a loved one. As a former police prosecutor, attorney for the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, and 32-year personal injury lawyer, I know first-hand how devastating this type of news can be.

Everyday police officers put their lives on the line to do this difficult work. By sponsoring this training series, I hope to help officers and first responders approach one of the most daunting aspects of the job, and consequently, help family members cope with what will be one of the hardest experiences they will ever face.
